There are a few different models, such as one to work with Cisco phones, and another with Aastra, Avaya, and Nortel phones, so please check your phone’s specifications.

But this adapter isn’t limited to those of us with broken sound boards, it also works if you want to use your PC headset with Macs, or if you want to use it as a PS3 USB headset adapter.

Note that RJ9, RJ10, and RJ22 phone handset and headset plugs have four connectors, not six like RJ11 plugs. RJ11 is only used to plug the phone into the wall.

Cisco headset jacks have a slightly different wiring for the RJ9/RJ10/RJ22 plug. (RJ11 is not used for headset jacks)

Rj9, RJ10, and RJ22 (aka 4P4C) are what are used for the headset and handset jacks of phones. Rj11 (6P6C) is slightly bigger and is how you plug your phone into the wall.

We released a product last fall that combined two of our adapters so you could use your PC headset with your iPhone, Blackberry, Droid, or other smartphone. However, one issue was the users couldn’t get stereo sound by using the adapters in combination.

So we just launched a single PC Headset to 3.5mm iPhone/Smartphone Adapter that allows for stereo sound. So if your smartphone has a 3.5mm TRRS jack (most smartphones do), then this will work for you. For a full list of compatible phones visit the product site.
